Guest Blogger: Rhett the Regal Beagle

Rhett is a distinguished old gentleman who has been playing at Sparky's since the beginning. Despite some health issues, he continues to visit and always has a ready smile and a tail wag. Rhett: The cold is hard on my old bones. That's why I haven't been to Sparky's in a while. But as soon as the weather shaped up and got warm, I begged my person to take me to play.

Boy, things sure have changed since I was here last. In the olden days, there was one play group and all the dogs played together - there was none of this size segregation. You can see me romping in the video on the Doggie Playcare page (atplaywithsparky@bellsouth.net). Now, there's two play yards - one for "big" dogs and one for "little" dogs. Exactly what about me is little? I am way bigger than any other beagle, well, ever. Even PB. And my personality is all big. But somehow I am relegated to the little yard.

Sure, I've slowed down some as I've, um, matured. Sure, the big dogs are at least twice as big as me. But seriously, size is an attitude.

Luckily there are old friends over here in this yard. Dogs I've known a long time and are totally cool to chill with (see I'm still young and hip). And there are new dogs that seem okay. I especially like Jack, but he is a beagle after all. I guess I'll just have to get used to the puppies and chihuahuas.

It was fun talking to ya'll. I'm gonna go stretch out on my couch now. It's been a long day.
