March Playmate of the Month
Drumroll please......
We are very excited to introduce our Playmate of the Month for March 2011.
Meet Olivia!
She was happy to get extra lovin' from our staff and customers in the office, or as she got a little bigger, romp in the yard with the many friends she quickly made.
She may be little, but this gal is tough! Like the day she went at a full run to knock her playmate, Gretchen, a Rottie puppy twice her size, right out of the sandbox and then tackle her.
As we've watched Olivia grow in size, we've also watched her mature into a happy, well-adjusted dog. She exemplifies all of the characteristics of a Playmate of the Month here at Sparky's. She gets along with everyone, will play with anyone who is willing, listens well & is the cutest darn thing to romp into our lives. We look forward to Olivia playing at Sparky's for many years to come!

Many of you will recall seeing Olivia hanging in the office as a tiny pup, when she first started coming to Sparky's last fall. She was a mere 10 weeks old when she bounced into our hearts.

Need a Dinner Idea Tonight?
It's been a long day, and no one wants to go home and cook. So, after you pick up your furry friend from daycare today, get him/her settled at home and then head out to one of our local restaurants supporting animal rescue through the Dine To Be Kind event happening today!
Dine To Be Kind benefits Animal Compassion Network, which has been rehoming cats and dogs in our community since 1997. All you have to do is eat at one of the participating restaurants, and a portion of the proceeds will go straight to ACN.
To do our part, we treated our staff to lunch from Mellow Mushroom today. We supported a local restaurant, thanked our employees for a job well done, AND helped an organization whose focus is helping pets here in Western North Carolina. Now that makes our tails wag!

February Playmate
Introducing our February Playmate of the Month!
Buddy Black Brinton - BBB - The Triple Threat
Buddy always has a smile on his face and a wag to his tail...
He tells it like it is... (Listen up, Honeybee!)
He lends a paw to the up-and-comers... (First you put your front paws up. Try it, Tomato!)
And keeps his positive attitude even when he pulls a long shift at daycare! (Mom and Dad work long hours, and so do I!)
This one and a half year old mix is a happy fella with tons of friends. Buddy is always available for a romp, a jump, or just a lick. He's definitely earned his spot as playmate of the month!

January Playmate
We thought we would start this year off with a classic: Ginger has been a fixture at Sparky's since puppy-hood. While she has owned the title Playmate of our Hearts the entire time, it's about time that we make it official! In fact, we were so sure that Ginger had already been recognized as Playmate of the Month, we passed her over all the months before now. Let's be clear that this is our mistake, and not Ginger's.
Ginger is consistently having the best day of her life, and is not afraid to express her joie de vivre. She is non-discriminate and will play with people and other dogs equally. She greets all our yard staff by putting her mouth on whatever she can reach.
She enjoys having her picture taken and loves barking at pedestrians.

Snow Day Redux - Tuesday
Well, pups, the roads are supposed to be even worse tomorrow morning than they were today. So we will once again open around 8am and may need to close early (before dark). If you can stay home in your nice warm beds, it would be for the best, but if you simply must come play, give us a call. We'll try to accommodate you while keeping our staff safe.

Snow Day Monday, Jan 10
UPDATE 8am: One staff member has arrived to take care of the boarding dogs. We will be closing before dark tonight, so please do not bring your dog in for daycare unless you can pick them up before 5pm. If you would like to board your dog tonight, also have him/her here before 5pm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
With many inches of snow and no end in sight, travel around Asheville will be extremely dangerous today. In order to keep our staff safe, we will have very limited hours today. If you need to drop off or pick up your dog, please give us a call to arrange a time. We will only be available during daylight hours. Sorry for the inconvenience, but safety is our top priority.
